His years as a radiologist, academician, author and neuroradiological consultant, confirm his place as one of the most experienced neuroradiologists in the Region. A board-certified radiologist, Dr. Mikhael serves as a senior neuroradiologist at St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital and Thorek Hospital in Chicago. He provides diagnostic radiology services for Open Advanced centers in Lincoln Park and Gold Coast. His clinical appointments have included Chief of Neuroradiology and Director of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Evanston Hospital and McGaw Medical Center at Northwestern University. His academic appointments include posts as Assistant Professor of Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri, Professor of radiology at Northwestern University Medical School and as a member of the faculty in neuroradiology at Columbus Hospital in Chicago. He earned his medical degree with honors at the University of Alexandria in Egypt, did an internship at Miriam Hospital-Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, and completed his residency in radiology and fellowship in neuroradiology at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Mikhael also holds a PHD in Anatomy and Embryology. The recipient of five national research and contract grants, Dr. Mikhael is the author of over 300 scientific papers and 19 chapters in medical textbooks. He has been honored, among others, by the American Society of Neuroradiology, the New York Academy of Sciences, the Royal Society of Medicine in London and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Mikhael is an active member of 12 professional societies including the American College of Radiology, The Illinois Radiological Society and the Chicago Radiological Society. He and his wife are parents of three children, a lawyer and two physicians.
