Dr. Urman completed his undergraduate work at the University of Oregon. He received a PhD in Anatomy while doing neuroendocrine research and teaching gross and neuroanatomy at Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) during the same period. He subsequently earned an M.D. at OHSU. He did an internship at Emanuel Hospital & Health Center then completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at OHSU. He has pursued his love of teaching while practicing radiology full-time.

Dr. Urman has held numerous appointed positions in his career including Chairman of the Legacy Graduate Medical Education Committee, President of the Pacific Northwest Radiological Society, President of the local Oregon ACR chapter and Medical Director of Diagnostic Imaging at Legacy Mt. Hood Medical Center. He is also active in many professional societies including the American College of Radiology, the Pacific Northwest Radiological Society and the Radiological Society of North America.

In his spare time, Dr. Urman is very active. He enjoys bike touring, downhill skiing, golfing and running. He runs in many distance races and recently ran in the well known Hood to Coast relay race in Oregon. Dr. Urman enjoys photography and plays guitar in a rock band.
